About Burslem Pottery
Hand Made pottery from Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
Burslem Pottery was originally set up as an offshoot of Cobridge Stoneware, which ran for a time as a sister company to Moorcroft. The present owner of Burslem Pottery is Tracy Bentley who was one of the artists at the inception of Cobridge Stoneware, she also worked for a while at Moorcroft.
Tracy and Steve continue to make a bird and animal range from casings and moulds originally designed by highly collected and respected modeller Andrew Hull.
They also hand draw, scraffitto and hand paint each stoneware pot in the same manner as the Cobridge Stoneware days. Each piece is unique and has a wonderfully handled earthyness to it.
Barewall says: "We are delighted to be able to sell the beautiful unique stoneware pots made by Burslem Pottery just opposite our galley in Burslem Town Centre. Their pots have a quality that is earthy, that demand to be handled, the drawings often tell stories, and make an emotional connection with the viewer. There simply is no other pottery studio producing these kind of pots."
