About Rachel Grant

Rachel Grant is a mixed media artist based in North Staffordshire, whose working process has led to a distinctive style that is achieved through the layering of collage, found materials, screen print, transfer print, acrylic paint and machine embroidery. These multiple layers evoke a sense of history, building up metaphors for layers of time, experience and memory.

Inspired by the narratives that surround her in music, literature, film and everyday life, Rachel uses imagery and fragments of text to hint at hidden stories that lie quietly within each piece. Appealing to our shared human experiences of love, loss, learning, hope and determination, the artwork creates a momentary glimpse into an inner world of memory or dream.

Rachel regularly exhibits her original works along with signed limited edition prints in galleries across the UK, as well as being available for private commissions, illustration projects and image licensing. In addition, she also regularly undertakes socially engaged commissions, which usually involve collaborating with other artists and art forms. These projects often result in the creation of site responsive installations or performances.
