About Rob Pointon

I'm a Stoke on Trent based figurative artist. I enjoy exploring ways of recreating scenes from my own direct experience within my artwork.

I work largely in oil paint, a medium that allows me to imitate day-to-day visual experiences with intense colours, layering, blending, glazing abilities and 3-dimensional textures.

I am interested in the illusion of space, and enjoy playing with dramatic viewing angles, near and far, height and depth. I have studied heavily wide angle perspectives and now want to play with that knowledge to create artworks that display scenes that surround you, but also by bending and contorting space - show my comment on the landscape.

I am very passionate about the value of direct observational work.
