Joyce Iwaszko at Barewindow Feb 2010
Joyce Iwaszko exhibiting new work for sale at ‘barewindow’
1st December 2009 until 4th January 2010
The White House, 2-4 Market Place, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST6 4AT
My work is about the process of painting using colour, pattern and texture to create a unique body of work, without compromising the original character of the materials used. The beauty and depth of oil paint combined with meaningful found textiles or ceramic lithographs bring together histories and a sense of place.
"What’s passion but a battering
of stubborn stalks,
Then a gentle combing out of fibres like hair
And a weaving of these into christening robes,
Into garments for marriage or funeral?
Let flax be our matchmaker, our undertaker."
