Bernard Moore (1850 - 1935)
Bernard Moore was a Staffordshire fine bone china manufacturer. He was known as a great experimentor and trailblazer in decorative glazes and was considered the most important chemist and potter of the day. He consulted for many of the best manufacturers, whilst hiring artists working with the art schools of the Potteries to work at his studio in Wolfe Street, Stoke upon Trent.
He is famous for founding the first flambé glaze in the early part of the 20th century. His unique and avant garde work is both modern and surprising given its pre war beginnings.
