The location is likely to be Mow Cop North Staffordshire in and around his home it is a large oil which appears to be an oil sketch study for a smaller more resolved painting of the same theme.
Titled, "EN10Oil Mow Cop Gate Landscape I".

Provenance direct from the artist's studio at the family home in Albert Terrace, Wolstanton, with original label to the reverse with the name and the artist's address in Mowcop.
