Derek Higginson (b.1930)

Studied at The Burslem School of Art from 1943 aged 13, gaining a National Diploma in Lithography and Design.   Derek was enrolled and taught by Reginald Haggar then head of painting and studied and exhibited alongside Arthur Berry.

He was friends at the Art School with William Bowyer who he sat for a portrait which now hangs in the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.  

Like Berry he was influenced by and met Lowry, whilst studying at The Burslem School of Art, he visited Manchester on many occasions and travelled to visit him at his home.
