Geoffrey Wynne RI wins Art Critic Award at RI Show 2018 at Mall Galleries

Fresh from winning the Art Critic award at The Royal Institute of Watercolourists show at the Mall Galleries in April 2018, Geoffrey Wynne RI sold 4 out of his 5 paintings on display. The award was for a series of three large watercolour paintings deeply personal to Geoffrey relating to his North Staffordshire mining roots called "Written in Dust". Just one of the three prize winners, - Written in Dust : Underground is now available at Barewall in Burslem complete with all of the Mall Galleries labels to the reverso. We are delighted to announce a range of hand painted pottery inspired by illustrations of The Potteries by famous artist and ceramicist who was head of The Burslem School of Art, Reginald Haggar. Barewall discovered the illustrations in a book titled "The Football Year" which was published in 1958. Barewall were delighted to find the illustrations which appear to have been long forgotten. We loved the idea of Haggar drawing the scenes for a national book club which included some of the scenes of the Potteries complete with bottle ovens and back street football fields, in play being watched by the locals.
