Andrew Matheson RBSA and member of the Midlands Potters Association (MPA) will be at Middleport Pottery from 11th to the 12th April 2016 demonstrating the making of his tree structure ceramic sculptures which will be available to buy at the gallery in the coming weeks. The workshop takes place over 2 days when he will go through the tips of slab constructing a structure which can be sculptured and withstand the firing and glazing sharing many tricks he has learnt over his 30 years potting. We were delighted to meet eminent potter and Midland Potters Association member Jo Connell at The Princes Gallery, Middleport Pottery on the 7th April 2016. Jo turned up with coloured clay and tools, templates and shapes in hand to perform a fantastic and magical display of her hand building clay form techniques which was enjoyed by a rather inquisitive Home and Gardens readers afternoon tea and tour which just happened to be visting on the same day.

On 2nd April 2016 the wonderful arts and crafts inspired potter Lorraine Bates will be running a FREE have a go THROW session as part of the BBC "Hey Clay" in conjunction with "Contemporary Craft Association". This event is part of the ongoing event at Middleport "Barewall presents Midlands Potters Association at Middleport Pottery Exhibition on from 19th March to 24th April 2016". We hope to see you there, and get messy with clay. To have a go throw is free, while if you would like to keep the pot then a small charge will be payable for the firing....

How did you first get interested in ceramics?
