Painted on location during a visit to Venice in 2026 during the carnival season, this atmospheric watercolour captures the magic of St Mark's Square at dusk — the square alive with festival, the evening light dissolving into the famous Venetian glow. One of a series of works made during the trip, it is among the most ambitious in scale and mood.
Exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours — 214th Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London (25 March – 11 April 2026), presented by the Federation of British Artists.
