N227 Calico Pottery Shard Silver Necklace by Unearthed
Beautiful handmade silver necklace with ceramic shard found in Middleport, Stoke on Trent.
The pottery shard featured in this necklace was discovered by the canal in Middleport, nearby to Middleport Pottery. The vivid blue and white shard features the centre of a flower from Burleigh Pottery's Blue Calico pattern. This chintz design has been in production for over 50 years, since S&S Agencies of New York asked A J Wilkinson & Son of Burslem, Staffordshire to copy a chintz tablecloth design and reproduce it on traditional earthenware. Initially, it was sold in the USA under the Royal Crownford name but as it grew in popularity it was distributed more widely, especially from 1968 when Burgess and Leigh took over manufacture and it appeared in the Britain's Habitat store chain. The shard measures 10 mm across.
This beautiful and unique necklace is made of recycled silver by Unearthed, an eco-friendly jewellery maker based in North Staffordshire.
Size: The necklace measures approx 21 inches long.
Made in Stoke on Trent. Boxed with eco-friendly recyclable packaging.
