Mixed media using my photograph, Oil Pastels and mark making with scratches and stamping.
Chatterley Whitfield Colliery, unique combination of my photography & mixed media skills. This piece has been hand finished with oil pastels and mark making, creating a beautiful piece of wall art. Mounted in a contemporary black frame.
I’m a local mixed media artist born in Leek, I studied at Leek College of Art, then Staffordshire University, and am now a Co-Owner of The Fox and Crow Gallery in the Foxlowe Arts Centre. Growing up, I loved getting involved in anything arty and benefitted from having an artist mother. Even though I always wanted a career doing something arty and creative, for many years after university, my artistic passions were confined to evenings and weekends. Even when working two jobs and raising two boys, I always tried to find an opportunity to get in a little creative time. No matter where I lived, or how limited the space was, I always had a cupboard full of random materials and paints and never gave up on the dream. Three years ago, I finally managed to make art my full-time occupation, and I feel truly blessed. As I mentioned above, I’m the Co-Owner of The Fox & Crow, which is an artisan shop and a great platform for local artists to sell their work. I create original textured artwork, then printing onto soft furnishings, and homeware. I’ve used various methods of mark making in my pieces, including scratching and stamping.
