This is a rectangular painting in a portrait orientation. There is a window sill with three books to the left with titles "The Garden", "Needlework" and "Quiet". On top of the books is a large pottery vase decorated with painterly leaves in a sepia shade. Inside the vase are some lily style flowers in shades of peachy orange. To the right of these objects are a smaller vase and a small bowl, decorated with a blackbird and a dandelion flower. There are white textured curtains on each side of the objects, framing the window and in the background there are terraced houses with a blue sky.
Rachel Grant is a freelance artist, illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Her work is inspired by slow living and connected to the simple things of home, heritage, seasons and the natural world.
