Earthenware clay sculpture, coloured with pastel powder; mounted on hard wood ply and varnish sealed.
Bas relief earthenware sculpture mounted on board. Two hands reach across cold turbulent water. A chaos of bullets fly between them. One hand an adult and the other a child. This is not literal but is meant to signify dynamics of vulnerability, responsibility and compassion in a rapidly unsustainable culture of elitist obfuscation.
Gillie Nicholls Sculptor/potter/musician.
Born in Stoke-on-Trent. BA Hon Degree in multi Disciplinary Design, 1981, North Staffs Polytechnic.
After a long career in music I began to re focus on my pottery and took up a passion of clay sculpture. I am slightly obsessed with the human portrait and the stories that lie between the spaces. Details that unmask themselves, oddly while one is concentrating on calliper measurements.
