Burslem Welcomes

Dear Cultural Friend

As friends and colleagues with a similar interest in the promotion of the history and artistic heritage of Burslem, we would like to invite you to support a group called “Burslem Welcomes”. Burslem Welcomes has  been brought together to look at making Burslem A Tourist Ready Town. The group was setup in late 2017 and is being mentored by tourism guru Malcolm Gallagher with the help of Destination Staffordshire. Malcolm has helped to train many tourist boards, organisations and towns across the UK and is a great advocate for the idea.

The idea of Art Tourism for Stoke on Trent is a very attractive offer for Burslem and one which people would really like to get behind.

Stoke on Trent has more visitors than Stratford-upon-Avon. We suggest that Burslem needs to capitalise on this footfall with its unique and special story. Burslem is “The Mother Town” of “The World Capital of Ceramics”, so let’s get the town ready for this!

The plan has the added benefit that it can be delivered as part of the run up of a successive City of Culture, or Cultural Cities bid, whilst exploiting the positive outcome of the #Sot2021 bid. Now is the time to take action.

Barewall have been working with Stoke on Trent tourism since 2011. We are proud to champion Burslem Welcomes and hope that you can join us by pledging your support and joining our growing list of cultural partners list.
