Lowry and Berry : Observers of Urban Life Exhibition
Lowry and Berry: Oberservers of Urban Life Exhibition July 25th 2015 to Jan 10th 2016
This special exhibition features works by distinguished artist L.S Lowry and his local counterpart Arthur Berry together for the first time. Revealing the influence one had on the other but also showing their individual styles.
These two working class artists who portrayed the world around them were unpretentious and their work showed the beauty and humour in the everyday.
Lowry in his works chose to portray the ordinary existence of the common man. Berry influenced by Lowry also championed the common man and not only referenced them in his paintings but in his plays and poems.
These two great artists reflect a world that has changed immeasurably but the warmth and emotion with which it captured lives on.
Tickets £5, concessions £3.
