Drawing in paint and pen and ink of an elderly couple In The Pub by Leslie Duxbury ARCA.

The composition of an old man and an old woman sitting in a pew style seating leaning over a table talking over drinks. The women has her legs crossed at the ankle with little kick heels on. A lively drawing in ink showing a typical 1950s drinking scene in a English public house of of the day. This drawing has some connections to the Kitchen Sink artists of the day with Leslie Duxbury mixing with Jack Smith and early Derek Greaves work who lived in the same house. 

Drawing size: 25.5cm x 35.5cm / 10" x 14"

Size framed: 40cm x 50cm / 15.75" x 19.5"

Framed in thin edged light oak wooden frame moulding with white mount.

Barewall are delighted to be able to offer this drawing as Leslie Duxbury was in the circle of Potteries painter Arthur Berry. Leslie Duxbury lived in the same house as Arthur Berry whilst in London in 1940's after Arthur Berry graduated from Royal College of Art, Arthur was working at Chelsea School of Art with sculptor George Fullard. Both George and artist Derrick Greaves also lived in the house.
