Arthur Berry centenary year long celebration with help from £150K Lottery Heritage Fund
Since late in 2023 Barewall has been secretly working closely with a lovely bunch of creative partners to put together a program of events to celebrate Arthur Berry centenary year known as #ArthurBerry100.
Our creative partners include New Vic Theatre, Arthur Wood Estate, Appetite, Victoria Theatre Archive, Claybody Theatre, Keele University, Three Counties Open Art Exhibition and Staffordshire Film Archive.
Together we have been able to bring Arthur's incredible output and legacy across multiple mediums as well as his lesser known archives into a number of events, shows, talks, walks, a world premier and creation of new creative content celebrating Arthur's life and work, at last a national audience will be able to immerse itself into Arthur's World, in the Potteries at some of the places Arthur Berry held so dear.
The archive will also be put into a publicly available digital archive ensuring that Arthur Berry's collection is saved and available to view and enjoy for years to come with thanks to the National Heritage Lottery Fund and of course all of the people that play the Lottery.
It is also with thanks to the Arthur Berry Estate for providing permission for Arthur's artwork, words, poetry, plays, monologs and photographs to be shared with the nation.
Its an incredibly important resource for our city. Arthur Berry is a man who grew up with this city, Arthur is 100 and so is the city of Stoke on Trent.
