The Potteries (Pocket Images) Book 2005 by Ian Lawley
A fascinating illustrated history of the North Staffordshire Potteries, drawing on archive photography from the City Museum and Art Gallery and the Gladstone Working Pottery Museum.
Written by Ian Lawley and published by Nonsuch Publishing in 2005, this Pocket Images volume explores the everyday life of one of Britain's most distinctive industrial regions over the past hundred years — from the pottery factories and the people who worked in them, to parks, religion, sport, entertainment, holidays and popular celebrations.
"The North Staffordshire Potteries are the only area in Britain to be so completely identified with one industry… The photographs illuminate the everyday life of this remarkable area during the past one hundred years."
