A biography of a watercolour artist born in Nottingham in 1875 and his determination to become an artist, rising to be described as 'the greatest watercolour artist of our time' by the harsh critic and fellow artist Augustus John.
He also was taught by Adolphe Vallette at Manchester Art School alongside the most famous Northern Industrial painter of the Northern Industrial Landscape L S Lowry.
A collection of Arthur Henry Knighton Hammond paintings have recently become available to Barewall through a collector based locally. On reading this book an artist who was born in the Potteries, Job Nixon is mentioned as having travelled with him for a few days through Europe painting scenes, each acting as characters in their paintings.
The book is by art historian and collector Peter Norris.
