This very readable collection celebrates Bennett's 150th anniversary, bringing to life one of the major celebratory of the 20th century who was also one of its greatest writers. It explores his beat known works, as well as his lesser-known writings, along with his interest in sculpture and architecture. Written by Bennett scholars and enthusiasts from around the world it makes a fitting tribute to one of the most writers, and most fascinating personalities of the last century.
John Shapcott is Honorary Research Fellow at the Research Institute for the Humanities, University of Keele and the vice president of the Arnold Bennett Society. He is the editor of a series of new editions of Arnold Bennett's work, including the critically important film trilogy. His most recent book are an 'Arnold Bennett Companion: A Twenty First Century Perspective' and 'Grains of Sand: Melvyn Bragg's Cumbrian Novels'.
