June Burnett was born and brought up in Liverpool, and was a daughter of a mixed marriage. After studying at Liverpool Art College alongside John Lennon and his friend and early member of the Beatles painter Stuart Sutcliffe. After art college she went on to teach and lived in a rambling Victorian house in Dresden, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
