By Damian Barr

"This charts the story of the most famous painters of the '40s from meeting at the Glasgow School of Art to moving to London and being the centre of the bohemian art world rubbing shoulders with Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Dylan Thomas, the illegal gay world and lovers including artist John Minton and many others, how they lived, brightly, through poverty, until the end." - Barewall Art Gallery

The Two Roberts were also friends of Arthur Berry, who lived in the very house at 77 Bedford Gardens in the artist commune. Sadly, Berry is not mentioned in the book, probably due to his lack of fame; however, we know that both the Roberts were hugely important to Arthur. Cynthia explained how Arthur instinctively knew something was wrong, and despite his agoraphobia, he took himself off to visit the Roberts, just before Colquhoun passed away."

"The Two Roberts is a brilliant and unflinching portrait of love and talent", Graham Norton

"Crackles with creative rebellion", Douglas Stuart
