The Battery Shed is a pen and ink drawing horizontal triptych layered composition showing the working conditions of miners working on the coal face and on the surface. Probably taken from studies made at North Staffordshire Coal Mines runs by The National Coal Board (NCB).
This period looks very much like the 1980s a period of great change for the coal miners and the industry when the miner strikes and the political atmosphere in government was one of hostility to the miners.
An honest depiction of the conditions endured by the coal miners, whilst showing the men together in their mining outfits including their NCB jackets.
Framed in a simple black frame with a white mount. Signed and named.
