Original  watercolour painting by Gordon Forsyth RI  titled "The Tower of St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich 1937".

This rare one off painting is signed, named bottom left and dated 1937. A fabulous piece for any collector of Norwich local and historical memorabilia by a famous painter who made his name in the field of ceramics, both as educator, artist, author and ceramicist.

Image size: 37.5 x 55cm or 14.75" x 21.5"

Framed size: 64cm x 82cm or 24.25" x 32.25"

Framed and double mounted in an original frame from 1937 with exhibition labels to verso.

This painting would have been created when Gordon Forsyth was principal at Burslem School of Art, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

It is also interesting that Gordon Forsyth's daughter Moira Forsyth, a glass and ceramic artist was commissioned to make one of the stained glass windows at Norwich Cathedral, this commission was completed in 1963. It shows a long standing connection to Norwich and Norfolk for the Forsyth family.

The building is still in the town centre of Norwich, Norfolk as is the market and the public house overlooking.
