SOP010 Shanghai Lil (1960) Original Mixed Media Painting by Arthur Berry

The Original painting, mixed media on paper of titled Shanghai Lil painted in 1960 by Arthur Berry. This is a lost early painting which was published in Arthur Berry's autobiography from 1989 titled A Three And Sevenpence Halfpenny Man.

The painting has been rediscovered prior to the opening of the 'A Sense of Place' Arthur Berry Exhibition August 9th 2025.

It is a painting of Black and white charcoal and pencil and gouache on paper by Arthur Berry.

In 1993 Arthur Berry recreated this painting in colour as a second study of Shanghai Lil, probably because the original painting was lost and sold possibly unknown to Art Dealer Laurie Steward post 1986. 

Framed in beautiful wooden frame with hand painting slip.

Signed and Dated 1960.
