Born in the Potteries and taught by Derek Emms.
An artist doesn’t produce a piece of work that stands completely by itself, many of the artist’s previous experiences and recollections go towards developing the new pieces of work.
Hazel’s work consists of fragments of many memories, of textures and colours of various materials that are special to her. She works with ceramics, always learning, developing and experimenting with the ceramic materials, different clays, oxides and glazes. Linking together, various textures and fabric impressions of familiar items of family and friends has created some very interesting pieces of work. This piece is the result of going back to the beginning of exploring ceramics, but with nearly 50 years of experience and hindsight.
