A Promising Outlook 2026 by Helen Boardman
A Promising Outlook Hot Pinks and Lime Greens
Created on paper Plein Air in early summer when wild flowers bloomed, cow parsley frothed and all was fresh woth fields still lush green.
is part of a series capturing the Roaches — the dramatic gritstone ridge rising from the North Staffordshire Moorlands. The title carries a double meaning: the meteorological promise of a brightening sky over moorland, and the simple, sustaining pleasure of a good view — the kind that makes you stop walking and just look. From the Roaches, the landscape opens wide: heather and rock falling away to valley and plain, the sky enormous overhead. There is optimism in that openness, a sense that whatever lies ahead, the view from here is worth having.
Developed from plein air sketches and notes made whilst walking in spring 2026, and completed in the studio in summer 2026. Finished with artist’s professional UV varnish.
