Helen Boardman (b. 1964)
Helen Boardman is an artist living in Stone, Staffordshire.
She won the prestigious Arthur Berry prize at the Three Counties Open in 2022.
Her work is rooted in the landscape and has become increasingly abstracted. Whilst thoughts of how human intervention has determined its form remain, writing, in the form of minimalist Japanese Haiku, which is now an important part of her process. Distilling what she notices and capturing fleeting moments, these words are constantly referenced along with field sketches when developing her studio pieces.
Whilst working primarily in acrylic, Boardman uses a mix of media and techniques to build layers and history in her work.
Barewall are delighted to be working with Helen Boardman, a wonderful Staffordshire-based artist whom Barewall met through an introduction at the opening of the Lunar Restaurant in 2001.
