Biddulph Players 1950 - 2000
"Need one suffer so much for pleasure"
Author: Edited and compiled by Margaret Furnyhough
The book back cover states:
"A few years ago Doris Page of the Biddulph Players compiled a potted history of the Society and read it out to members, which stimulated a gathering together of old programmes and photographs. The idea then lay dormant for several years until with the golden anniversary of the Amateur Dramatic Society arriving in May 2000 it was decided to produce a complete history of the past 50 years.
With Doris' original potted history as a framework. Margaret Furnyhough has set out to catalogue all the plays chronologically, to find photographs for nearly all of them, and to bring together a series of little cameo by members - many of them humorous and informative.
The result is not only a book full of vivid memories for the Players themselves, it also provides an interesting introduction and insight into the workings of a local amateur dramatic society for other societies and members of the public."
