£30

Cecily Adams: A Staffordshire Photographer by Philip Nanney Williams brings a long-overlooked photographic archive into focus. Exploring late Victorian and early Edwardian life, this Staffordshire history book reveals the people, places and social contrasts recorded through Cecily Adams' camera.

The youngest daughter of ceramic manufacturer William Adams V born in 1866, Cecily photographed both the privileged circles of her family and the workers whose labour supported the Adams pottery business. Photography, family and Staffordshire history

Written and compiled by educationalist and historian Philip Nanney Williams, a direct descendant of the Adams family, the book draws on family archives to place Cecily's photographs in their historical context. For readers interested in the Potteries, historic photography or the social history of Staffordshire, this volume offers a closer look at life beyond the pottery names themselves. It connects the Adams family's industrial story with the everyday experiences and surroundings captured by one of its members.

With chapters on Cecily Adams, Historic Houses and Homes, Sporting Activities, Holidays and Excursions, Celebrations and Special Occasions, Portraits, Rural Life and Transport this book charts the life of the 1880s to
