A painting and a Haiku in response to the plight of the Eurasian Curlew. Hearing their rising call on spring walks in the Peak District and winter walks along coastal estuaries is such a source of joy. Unfortunately, these beautiful birds, with their iconic haunting song, are on the European Red List and may soon be extinct. As ground nesting birds one of the many dangers they face is early silage cuts that destroy eggs or chicks.
