Mud on Our Boots, 2026 — Helen Boardman
The third and final painting in the Autumn Reflections series, Mud on Our Boots brings the walker firmly back to earth — literally. Where the series opens with the vivid colour and drama of the turning season, this work settles into the grounded, tactile reality of autumn walking: heavy ground underfoot, the smell of wet soil, the satisfying weight of a good walk in the legs. It is an intimate and warmly human note on which to close the series.
Developed from plein air sketches and saved thoughts made whilst walking in early October 2025, and completed in the studio in Spring 2026. Finished with artist's professional UV satin varnish and wax.
Part of the Autumn Reflections series, 2026 — a small series of three paintings.
