Trio, Burslem Staffordshire, 1969 — Maurice Wade (1917–1991)

Painted in 1969, Trio, Burslem Staffordshire is a quintessential Maurice Wade composition — three elements of the Potteries townscape brought together in a single, carefully observed scene. Burslem, the oldest of the Six Towns and the self-proclaimed "Mother Town" of the Potteries, was Wade's home territory, and his affection for its streets, buildings, and skyline runs through every brushstroke. This work captures Burslem at a pivotal moment, as the post-war decades began to reshape the landscape he had known all his life.

Published in 2026 by Petr Hajek with the kind permission of the Maurice Wade Estate, this print was released to accompany the landmark exhibition Maurice Wade: A Painter from No 57 at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery (12 October 2023 – 26 January 2024).
