An original framed ceramic artwork by Stoke-on-Trent artist Philip Hardaker, made in his studio in 2026.
Hardaker has hand-modelled and glazed a ring of ceramic flowers, including poppies, daisies and dahlias, around a hand-modelled, hand-drawn sgraffito portrait of a woman. The raised floral forms and detailed line work give the piece a richly decorative, sculptural character.
The portrait is made in a style reminiscent of the paintings of British artist Edward Burne-Jones, bringing a romantic, Pre-Raphaelite visual language into a contemporary piece of Staffordshire ceramic art.
