Unique and original ceramic classical figure Theseus by artist John Shelton. Made in 1981. It is also a figure which was at his home and was included in paintings at the time.
Size: 34cm tall by 15cm wide.
Hand modelled and decorated in the form of Theseus head and body. Coloured in a rich orange/red glaze with black underglaze.
Theseus is considered in Greek Classical mythology to be the Hero who slew the Minotaur and so was promoted as the national hero and leader.
Marked JS 81 (John Shelton '81) at the base, in excellent condition.
