Trentham Lake - Defining Calm by Louise E Pearson

Trentham Lake - Defining Calm is an original acrylic landscape painting on canvas board by Staffordshire artist Louise E Pearson. This semi-abstract interpretation of Trentham Lake brings together layered greens, turquoise and soft yellow, with touches of pink and sweeping white brushwork.

Rather than describing the landscape in precise detail, Pearson suggests foliage, water and reflected light through overlapping shapes and loose, expressive marks. Darker passages across the upper part of the composition contrast with the lighter, open brushwork below, giving the painting a sense of depth and quiet movement.

The square format draws attention to the interplay of colour and texture. A dark chocolate distressed wooden frame surrounds the painted surface, setting off its fresh greens and blue tones. It is a small-scale original for collectors drawn to Staffordshire landscapes and a more expressive approach to familiar places.
