Woven Furrows is an original acrylic and collage painting by Helen Boardman, created in 2026 for her Autumn Abstracts series. Its title suggests the rhythms of cultivated land, offering a starting point for exploring the work without tying it to a particular view or location.
Working on board, Boardman combines acrylic paint with hand-painted and printed collage papers. This meeting of painting and paper gives the work a mixed-media character, connecting her landscape practice with a more abstract way of responding to the natural world.
The painting grew from plein air sketches and walking notes gathered in spring 2026 and was completed in the studio that summer. Rather than documenting a single scene, it belongs to an approach shaped by time outdoors, recollection and a personal response to place.
