Bird in the Nest circa 1940 by James Rushton

High porcelain ceramic figure of a Bird in Nest modelled and decorated by James Rushton (1914 - 2000).

Hand modelled then cast with matt black and vermillion glazes.

The colour is dark brown matt glazed body with cornflower matt cream eyes. 

Very subtle detail to wings and tail and the nest shape.

Likely to be circa 1940. Referenced in the Bullers Catalogue for exhibition at Gladstone Pottery Museum in 1977.

This is a stylised impression of a Bird in the Nest designed by James Rushton.

Made at Bullers in Stoke on Trent, England circa 1940.

Size: 16 x 8cm x 5cm

Provenance: This peice comes from the ownership of a large collector of Bullers Studio Pottery.
