Potclays is located near to Etruria and Basford near to the A500 which cuts the between Stoke on Trent and Newcastle Under Lyme. The Potclays buildings are a mix mash of Victorian warehouses and chimneys and looks overtowards Etruria and Hanley town centre. Potclays supplies materials and tools to the Pottery industry and studio potters across the world. It is one of the well known stop off for potters and it holds a programme of courses with them to enhance the skills base needed to make pots.
This painting is one of few still available and is included in the catalogue accompanying an exhibition called Common Ground, which took place in the Arthur Berry room at the Burslem School of Art, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent in 2018. It featured paintings by Ian Mood alongside paintings by his late grandfather, Stoke based artist Sid Meir.
